Match Report Vale of Leven v BSC Glasgow | 26th July, 2014
Vale of Leven 0 - 2 BSC Glasgow - Milburn Park - Saturday 26th July, 2014
The grey skies over Vale of Leven's Millburn Park were in stark contrast to the mood of John Brogan's BSC Glasgow side as it approached it's penultimate pre-season friendly before the season kicks off in earnest against Edinburgh University.
The match provided valuable game time for Brogan to assess his options ahead of what is sure to be a testing campaign as his side prepare to enter the Lowland League for the first time and he made four changes from the side that drew in Carluke on Monday.
The game started slowly with both sides battling for control of the midfield and it was Vale of Leven that looked dangerous early on with some incisive play down the BSC right.
BSC hit back with a chance of their own but Ntaba screwed his shot wide.
Vale had the ball in the net soon after but the goal was ruled out for a foul on BSC keeper, Matt McGinley
Vale continued to apply pressure with a series of long range efforts before spurning the best chance of the first half when the Vale forwards ran clear on goal but were denied once again by the excellent Matt McGinley
BSC came out with renewed vigour in the second half with Macsorley and Dobbin replacing Connolly and Holmes and immediately set about putting the home side on the back foot. The pressure was growing when Chris Gebbie jinked through the Vale defence before slamming a left foot shot off the bar.
BSC were flowing now and a sweeping move involving Mcdougall and Gebbie ended in Ntaba being pushed in the area. Penalty to BSC. Kris Mcdougall took responsibility but looked on in anguish as his spot kick was saved.
Mcdougall wouldn't have to wait long to redeem himself and only minutes later he latched on to a lovely ball from Ally Morgan to cooly slot the ball into the far corner. 1 - 0 BSC.
Mcdougall then returned the favour to Morgan with a deft touch into the left sided midfielder's path. Morgan needed no second invitation to send a perfect, arcing shot into the top left hand corner. 2 - 0 BSC.
Brogan then took the opportunity to blood some of the younger members of his squad as BSC saw the game out comfortably and left Alexandria with a morale boosting victory.
