NIFTY SHADES OF GRAY - David Gray signs for BSC Glasgow
BSC GLASGOW have pulled off a major coup with the signing of former Clyde midfielder David Gray as the club’s fourth close-season capture.
Gray, who turns 27 today (Saturday), will join up with his new team-mates after his summer break and check into his first training session at BSC on July 14.
David – who started out as a young player at Dundee United - has over 100 professional games under his belt after stints at the likes of Airdrie, Dumbarton and Montrose.
Last season he made 16 starts and played eight times off the bench for Barry Ferguson’s Clyde and he confessed: “It’s a big decision to move to the Lowland League but the driving factor was the ambition BSC have shown all summer with me.
“The coaches Iain King and Craig Young were kind enough to let me train with EKFC when I was at Montrose and they were in charge there and I always loved their sessions.
“We would always talk about working together one day and it’s great it’s happening now.
“I can’t wait to get started. I’ve watched the other signings being made and you know that guys like Drew Ramsay, Aiden Ferris and Aaron Connolly are coming here because they believe the club is going in the right direction.
“It was great to see the club land the SFA Challenge Cup in their rookie season and now we’re all desperate to build on that in the league.”
Gray’s signing ended a summer-long pursuit for the coaching staff who understood the sought-after playmaker had options to weigh up.
And head coach Iain King said: “We set out to sign players who would see themselves as starters and improve us as a club.
“David certainly comes into that category, he has a great pedigree and he will raise the standards in training with his sheer presence and attitude.
“He is a natural leader of footballers in that respect and a guy I love talking football with.
“We have to set benchmarks for the likes of the new Under-20s, give them players they should try to emulate in terms of their professionalism and I see David as that sort of player.”
