BRONSKY BEATS ‘EM :: BRAVE BSC battled back
BSC GLASGOW 2 DALBEATTIE STAR 1 :: 5th August, 2015 :: Scottish Sun Lowland League
Scorers: O’Hear, Bronsky
BRAVE BSC battled back from a half-time deficit to clinch three crucial points in their home Lowland League curtain-raiser at Lochburn Park on Wednesday night.
Still smarting from an ill-deserved defeat at East Kilbride on opening day, Iain King’s side - minus the suspended Drew Ramsay and Jordan McKechnie after their red cards against Kilby - roared out of the traps.
They looked to have scorched in front when a thrilling move saw debut boy Ryan Carnwath curl over a superb cross for Kieran O’Hear to finish at the back post with a thudding volley.
Somehow, though, the goal was chalked off despite O’Hear making his run past his marker from outside the box. It was a bewildering decision.
BSC continued to dominate but then Star came right back into the contest and in all honesty deserved their opener when a trialist was left unmarked to sweep home from the edge of the box.
Now after a day without points at EKFC this was a test of BSC’s character and they responded superbly.
First sub Gerry O’Connell sped away down the left and his cross found O’Hear to guide home the equaliser.
Then just nine minutes from time a magnificent corner delivery from Ross McKinnon found Stephen Bronsky rising to bullet home the header and seal the points.
Outgoing head coach King said: “I never doubted the character of these players, I never have.
“Ciaran Johnston came off the bench with a point to prove and I felt as a coaching staff we were brave enough to make changes to win the game.
“They paid off, I knew deep down this would be my last game with BSC and it meant the world to go out with a win.”
