About Us

Broomhill Sports Club was founded in June 2004 by Parents of Children at Broomhill Primary School in the West End of Glasgow. The Parents were unhappy with the amount of PE within the School and set up some football teams for children from Broomhill and other local Schools.

We currently offer sports training and match play in Football, Netball, Multi Sports, Hockey, Karate and Athletics to approximately 750 children from Primary 1 to S6.  Our members attend West End Schools such as:

Broomhill Primary, Hyndland Primary & Secondary Schools, Jordanhill, St Peters, Glasgow Gaelic School, Knightswood Primary & Secondary, Kelvindale, St Thomas Aquinas, Whiteinch, Cleveden, Drumchapel High, St Paul’s, Thornwood, Notre Dame, Scotstoun, Hillhead, High School, St Charles, Bankhead, St Clare’s, Corpus Christi, Garscadden, Glasgow Academy, Garnetbank, St Aloysius, Oakgrove, Anderston, Blairdardie, Yoker and St Brendan’s.

We also have members from Schools in East Renfrewshire & Clydebank.

Our Aim

We want to establish Sport as an integral part of School and Community life. We want to encourage participation by as many children as possible in a wide range of enjoyable activities that promote health and well-being. We will look to engineer both sporting excellence and enthusiastic participation from our children. We want to develop the highest standard of sporting etiquette and foster talented and dedicated individuals.

In the long term we want to establish permanent Club facilities that will sustain a vibrant community Club offering sport to people of all ages and from every section of society.

Who Uses the Club

Broomhill Sports Club is available to anyone regardless of ability to play. The club has an extensive training schedule throughout the week and we put out teams at the weekend. The club looks at developing each individual as an athlete and as a person, we recognise that all children develop at different rates and we measure achievement accordingly.

We want to run inclusive and elite sport within the same club, this way we can encourage a lifetime’s participation and passion for sport and comradeship.

Membership means that you can participate in whatever appropriate sport or activity we provide, usually at no extra cost.

How the Club Runs

The Club is run by volunteer parents and carers, which involves all management and coordination duties plus coaching, fund raising, making refreshments, washing kits, putting up nets etc. If you can get involved please let us know

The club has a Constitution and an elected executive who meet monthly at a Finance & General Purposes Committee. Every section of the club sends a representative to this meeting and we plan and make decisions at this meeting.

Members pay a Subscription to be part of the club. We charge a bi–annual membership fee of between £120 and £150 per child, or £20 to £25 per month. All of which goes towards the hire of professional coaching staff, equipment and facilities. For a typical football player that works out at £2.00 per session.

The club has a Charter that sets out the rules by which we govern ourselves. Parents & Volunteers sign their acceptance of these rules and children from P4 upwards also sign their understanding of the rules.
