A few changes from Wednesday nights 1-1 stalemate with East Kilbride; Lewis Bell and Dave McKay came into the Starting XI, while Martin Grehan moved to the bench and Ross Smith takes the skipper’s armband in the absence of Ross McMillan.

A slow start to the game peaked in the 10th minute – Michael Anderson picked up a loose ball on the right flank and put a low cross in for Thomas Collins who powered it home in the six yard box.  Only four minutes later, more good football from BSC. Some terrific work from Dave McKay after he fought past defenders just outside the box, picked out Tom Orr who was able to knock the ball into the bottom right corner.

It could’ve been a third and even fourth in the minutes following; perfect passing between Orr and Jamie McCormack led a run in the box evading defenders but Gala keeper Fraser Morton was able to block, then a lovely cross from Michael Anderson found the head of Collins but the attempt went just over.

Further fantastic football was followed by even more chances for the away side but couldn’t add to the lead. Michael Anderson was able to dribble through defenders easy but his shot could only be palmed away by Morton for a corner.

The BSC opportunities fizzled out by the end of the first half and frustration set in for some of the Fairydean, as shown when Scott-Taylor McKenzie flew into a straight-legged tackle on Thomas Collins which the forward had to leap over. No card was shown.

A yellow card was shown however when Levi Kinchant went in for a hard tackle on Michael Anderson which left him down.

The only major chance fell for Gala right before the break when Alexander Murray got onto a one-on-one with Ryan Marshall but Marshall was there to block.

The second half saw the attacking opportunities die out for BSC, but Gala started to come alive. A great save from Fraser Morton prevented a third early on when Orr caught on to a good ball forward and laid off Jamie Hamilton.

Robbie McNab found himself in the book after persistent fouling just before BSC found their third and killed the game. After a corner, the ball fell to Collins who took a powerful shot on goal which landed straight at Orr who turned it into the back of the net.

Jamie Hamilton and Thomas Collins took the bench making way for Marc Smith and Ross Lindsay, meanwhile Lewis Bell received a booking.

Number four looked a certainty when McNab put forward a nice long ball and found Orr who managed to trickle through the Gala defence but his strike hit the post.

To see the game off, Declan Hughes made way for James Stokes. Jamie McCormack and Ross Smith also received bookings in the last ten minutes – one for persistent minor fouling and one for dissent, obviously.
