BSC Glasgow faced their toughest opponents of the season in Finnart FC this past Saturday, as the Broomhill side looked to pick up their first win since they travelled to Campbeltown two weeks ago.

With regular manager Gareth Laurie unavailable for the day’s events, Stephen O’Donnell took the lead in his stead. The BSC team had opportunities to get ahead in the first twenty minutes, but a lapse in attention in their own half found themselves put behind 1-0. While they managed to keep Finnart off the scoreboard for the rest of the first half and for most of the second, the away side kept the pressure on and forced BSC to make mistakes in the final portion of the game, resulting in a 4-0 scoreline.

O’Donnell emphasised the high quality of play that BSC has executed in the twenty minutes following kick-off, but cited a lack of focus and some “silly mistakes” that ended up being the difference maker between the two teams. He also mentioned the blow to team mentality that comes following the first goal against them in each half, saying that “sometimes heads go down, but you need to lift yourself back up.” Despite some of the struggles that the team has encountered so far, he has been happy with the type of game BSC has been playing. O’Donnell stated that once the team finds their goalscoring stride and begins to be more decisive in taking chances, the confidence levels will rise as well.

Despite the scoreline there were a number of positive aspects of the home side’s play, with Harry Bentley and Kevin Strain being singled out by the manager for their performances. BSC Glasgow have another tough matchup this Saturday, as they travel to take on the table-topping Kilsyth Athletic. Kick-off is at 2:00 PM at Kilsyth Sportsfield.
