We are back in glorious Geosonic Lowland League action this week after two nervy cup weekends. Luckily for us, the heart attacks start all over again in a fortnight when we’re back in double cup action against Bonnyrigg Rose and Forfar Athletic respectively.
Onto the task at hand though, Vale of Leithen are this week’s visitors to the Indodrill, set to be played under the lights on Friday night. Vale have not played a competitive match since the start of the October, when they grabbed a much needed 3-0 victory over Dalbeattie Star. Since then, however, the Chris Anderson’s squad have been training and playing friendlies left, right and centre so they’ll come to Alloa refreshed and ready to keep up the pace of their impressive start to the season.
Your BSC boys on the other hand have taken confidence from their Scottish Cup Second Round victory over Cumbernauld Colts and will be looking to take that momentum back into the league campaign.
Before the Dalbeattie game, Chris Anderson’s men hadn’t won a game since August suffering defeats at the hands of Kelty, Edusport, Gretna, Edinburgh Uni and Jeanfield Swifts in the South Challenge Cup. However, despite the lack of points, it was Sean Stewart’s goals in the 3-2 loss against Gretna and 4-3 loss against Edinburgh Uni which have given the Innerleitheners hope that they can bag a top half finish with their star striker leading the line. Stewart currently sits top of the Lowland League goalscoring charts and Stephen Swift’s defence will need to be aware of the threat that the 22 year old hitman poses.
Vale currently sit smack bang in the middle of the table in 8th place and even a point could see them vault up to fifth until Saturday’s fixtures are played. BSC on the other hand have the chance to break into the top four, admittedly with two games more played than many of our rivals.
Kick-off is 7:45pm at The Indodrill on Friday night. Admission is £7/£3/U16s & Jason Statham go free!
